FROM THE PRINCIPAL
New Staff
Welcome back to Lauren Wilson. Welcome to Ebony Page and Sandra Warwick. I am sure you will all make them feel welcome at Spreyton Primary School.
School Association AGM - Thursday 21st March at 6:00pm
Nominations have now closed. We will be reviewing nominations this week.
Student Leaders
It was great to introduce our Student Leaders for 2024 and congratulations to those students that were successful.
I would like to point out that all our Grade 6 students are leaders in our school. Our younger students look up to our older students. Therefore, all Grade 6 students are vital in developing a positive school culture. I look forward to working with our Student Leaders and all Grade 6 students this year.
NWPSSA Athletics Carnival
Our school was promoted back into Division A. Our students battled bravely against much bigger schools. It takes a great deal of courage to compete in these events. Thanks to Mr Henry for running the selection trials during P.E. and the staff that went along to help our students on the day. Well done to all students that participated in the selection trials at school and competed on the day. I am proud of you all.
NAPLAN Testing
Over many years of being involved in Statewide and then NAPLAN testing there are a few key things I have learned.
- If staff are calm during testing then students will be calmer. That allows them to show what they know.
- An early night and a good breakfast can have the biggest impact on NAPLAN performance.
RACT Road Safe Program
The RACT has been in the school this week working with students in Grades Prep - 4. For our school their messages are particularly important because we have high volumes of traffic during drop-off and pickup. Please talk to your children about what they have heard and learnt this week.
Twilight Festival - Friday 15th March at 3:30pm
It is on tomorrow and the prediction is for a fine afternoon and early evening. Volunteers and staff have been working behind the scenes to bring this event together. If you are speaking to any of our volunteers, please thank them. We have included maps in this newsletter to show where things will be.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Last Friday, we held our Leadership Hat Presentation Assembly. It was great to see so many families present to show their support for our student leaders.
Our student leaders accepted their hats with pride and a sense of responsibility, and they were reminded that Leadership hats are not merely accessories: they embody the school values of growth, courage, connection, respect and responsibility, and a commitment to service that define our school community.
This presentation assembly served as a valuable reminder of student leaders' vital role in shaping our school's culture and fostering a sense of belonging among peers.
We look forward to working with our student leaders as they commence their roles and develop their leadership skills.

'Grow it, Make it or Bake it' Market Stall
Are you interested to know how you can help?
This year we are looking for donations of any fresh produce or potted plants that can be sold on our school market stall. So, if you have a great veggie patch or plant garden at home, please consider donating to our school. Please drop these off to the school gymnasium (back of school) on the morning of the Festival (Friday 15th of March).
Also, if you are a whizz in the kitchen and could bake something to sell (cakes, biscuits, jams, chutneys), please do so and deliver to the Gymnasium on the morning of the Festival (Friday 15th, March). Please list the ingredients you used including any allergens (nuts, eggs, dairy) on a small piece of paper and attach it to the product. Packaging trays are available from the school office foyer, please help yourself, if needed.
All money raised will be reinvested into school projects.
Finally, if you are able to help with setup anytime from the Wednesday (13th), Thursday or the Friday morning of the Festival, please contact the school or email Heidi on heidi.broun-donohue@decyp.tas.gov.au
Thank you in advance for supporting our community event!

2024 PAYMENT OF LEVIES
Levies are one of the many ways that families contribute to our school community. They support student learning by contributing towards the cost of essential items and services.
Families should receive your invoice for levies in the next few days. Statements are posted from Hobart and provide BPay details for Parents/Carers to facilitate payment. Payment can be made online or at the school office via EFTPOS or cash between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm on school days.
Wherever possible we ask that Parents/Carers pay the amount of levies invoiced in full in Term One. However, we understand some circumstances mean this is not possible and Parents/Carers may choose to agree to pay levies by instalments. Parents/Carers are encouraged to discuss setting up a payment plan as early as possible if there is difficulty in affording the levy charge. This will enable us to set up an agreed instalment payment plan with regular weekly/fortnightly or monthly payments to suit your circumstance and ensure the levies are paid in full in an acceptable timeframe.
Families who are supported through the Student Assistance Scheme do not need to pay levies. If you have a current Health Care Card and have not already applied for STAS please follow the link below to complete the application.
Parents/Carers of Grade 6 students have been invoiced for the Grade 6 Leavers Top for $40 per shirt. Students will receive their Grade 6 Leavers Top/s when they arrive and payment has been confirmed.
