FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Athletics Carnival
Mr Henry organised great weather for our Athletics Carnival. Thanks to Mr Henry for his organisation of the day and all staff and Reece High students who assisted in setting up and the smooth running of the day. Thanks to all families who came along to support and encourage their children.
Progress Resports
Progress Reports went home this week. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you have not received one.
Social Media
We have Tasmania Police deliver the Think U Know Program each year to teach all students about Cyber Safety. However, this message is not getting through. I now need the support of families to reinforce some key messages, please check on your child’s usage of these platforms, and check age limit restrictions for these platforms.
Issues from after school and weekends are finding their way into school and causing arguments.
Two accounts on TikTok that students were using were Spreytonships and SpreytonSlander. The Department for Education, Children and Young People social media team contacted Tik Tok and had them shut down. Those accounts were being used to bully people and used the Department for Education, Children and Young People copyright logo without consent. They were using the school’s name and logo.
We have also found an Instagram account that has also been reported to the social media team.
Department for Education, Children and Young People rules that have been breached.
- behaviour that is likely to bring that school into disrepute
- bullying or cyberbullying
- illegal behaviour
- any other behaviour that a Principal determines to be unacceptable behaviour.
Students continue to wear their school uniform in videos or pictures. The Think U Know Program highlighted how dangerous this is because anyone on the internet can find out where they go to school.
Students using their phones before school, during school, or after school (on school grounds) will have their phone confiscated and we will ring the family. Some students have been recorded in the background without consent.
If children continue with the above behaviour, they will receive Leadership Position strikes or end of year celebration strikes.
I thank families in advance for their cooperation.
School Holidays
I don’t know where this term has gone. We had quite a bit happening this term. It started before school returned with the removal of the old temporary classrooms. During the term there was NAPLAN for Grade 3 and 5, Twilight Fair, Tool Skool, School Photos and the Athletics Carnival. There were also many other teaching and learning opportunities during the term.
I wish everyone a safe and restful school holidays and we will see you back on Monday, April 29.
Raising Children Network
This is an Australia wide parenting service set up by the Australian government. It has information for families organised into stages of a child’s development from pregnancy through to teenagers. The link below is for specific services in Tasmania.

CELEBRATING OUR ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
On Tuesday, April 9th, Spreyton Primary held our school Athletics carnival, and what an incredible day it was! The weather was perfect, and it was great seeing so many students wearing their house colours. We want to thank everyone who made this event possible and contributed to its success.
First and foremost, a massive round of applause goes to Mr Henry for his tireless efforts in organising the carnival. From coordinating events to ensuring everything ran smoothly, his dedication made this event possible.
To all the families who attended, we extend our sincere appreciation. Your presence not only created a vibrant and supportive atmosphere but also showed our students the importance of community and teamwork. Your cheers and encouragement from the sidelines undoubtedly spurred our young athletes on to achieve their personal best.
We also want to express our gratitude to the School Association for organising the sausage sizzle. Their delicious offerings kept our athletes fuelled and energised throughout the day.
Last but certainly not least, a special shoutout to our students. Your enthusiasm, sportspersonship, and determination were on full display, showcasing the very best of our school values. Whether you were competing in a race, throwing a vortex, leaping in the long jump, or participating in a relay, your efforts contributed to your teams success. You demonstrated courage, grit, and a commitment to personal growth by giving it your all; we are incredibly proud of that.
Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed to making our Athletics Carnival a resounding success.
