FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Minister For Education
This week we had a visit from the new Minister for Education, Jo Palmer. The Minister visited our Kindergarten classes at story time, heard our choir singing, and witnessed some awesome skipping skills in P.E. The best part was these visits to classes were not planned. I wanted the Minister to see what happens in our classes every day. The Minister was impressed by the way students were moving around the school in a calm and orderly manner. The Minister also spent some time in our Regulation Room. Thanks to all staff and students that made our visitors welcome.
NWPSSA Cross Country
Congratulations to our team that went to Ulverstone to compete in the combined cross country. Our school was promoted to Division A and our students competed well against other larger schools to finish fourth.
Moderation Day - Friday, 7th June
Teachers across the Devonport Primary Schools will come together to moderate student work samples. This is in preparation for Mid-Year Reports and Family/Teacher meetings.
Grade Prep - 2 teachers will be at Hillcrest Primary. Grades 3 - 6 teachers will be at Spreyton Primary. This is a student free day.
Sickness
Currently schools across the Northwest Coast are experiencing sickness for both students and staff. There are not enough relief staff to cover staff absences. Spreyton Primary has also had many student and staff absences over the last few weeks. At times it has been necessary to collapse some classes. We appreciate the adaptability and flexibility of our students and staff.
